He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley D. Gilland and Geneva Gilland; and his brother Bobby Gilland. He is survived by: his wife Dortha Gilland; his daughters, Emma Rea (Jimmy), Carla Sexton (Steve) and Beth Blazer (Russell); his sister Laura Rader (Johnny); and his grandchildren, Katie, Lexie Rea, Austin, Conner Sexton, Grayson and Avery Blazer.
