He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence "Short" Franks and Edniral Dean Duff Franks; his son Richard Lee Franks; and his siblings, J. L. Franks, Shot Franks, James "Wheeler" Franks and Joyce Franks.
He is survived by: his daughter Edna Faye Franks Butler (Michael) of Hornbeak, Tennessee; his stepdaughter Teresa Hill (Kerry) of Newbern, Tennessee; his siblings, Roy Franks of Newbern, Tennessee, Helen Page of Troy and Barbara Jean Morris of Troy, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Kyle Franks, Richard Franks and Dylan Franks.
