She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert E. Lee Carter and Dorothy Lee Pearson Carter; her husband Joe Glynn Rushing; her daughter Rita Torrence; and her siblings, T. C., Clarence, Otha, Walter, Ernest, Arby, Marvin "Demp", Robert, Jr., Eulene, Vida, Virginia, Lola, Carolyn, Clara and Cara.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jennifer Lynn (Justin) of Newbern and Melissa Gordon Rushing of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her stepdaughters, Gena Lynn Bowen (Butch) of Dyersburg and Laura Ann Henson (Scott) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; her son Keith Qualls of Franklin, Tennessee; and her brother Jimmy Carter of McKenzie, Tennessee. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
