He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Childrey and Edith Coleman Childrey; his granddaughter Kaylee Childrey; and his siblings, Lennie Pearl Barrie, Doris Myers, Edna Pope, Warren Sidney Childrey, James Madison Childrey, Claude Lee Childrey, David Eugene Childrey, Edd Childrey and Morris Childrey.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Shoulders Childrey of Newbern, Tennessee; his sons, Phillip Childrey (Penny) of Ridgely, Marty Childrey of Newbern and Chris Childrey of Dyersburg; and his grandchildren, Preston Childrey and Dillion Childrey.
