He is survived by: his children, Curtis Fowlkes (Lisa) of Newbern, Tennessee and Virginia Troutt (Jon); his sister Myla Rae Griffin of Newbern; his grandchildren, Josh Fowlkes, Carley Troutt, Elizabeth Fowlkes, Tatum Troutt, Lori Sawyer and Caleb Sawyer; and his great grandchild Josiah.
