He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Shelton and Sarah Elizabeth Williams Shelton; his wife Linda Ladd "Poodle" Shelton; and his brothers, Jimmy Shelton, Bill Shelton and Ronnie Shelton.
He is survived by: his children, Jason Shelton of Halls, Tennessee and Amy Brown (Terry) of Newbern; his grandchildren, Preston Shelton, Jeremiah Brown, Maddy Brown, Eva Brown, Crystal Brown and Brandon Brown; and his great grandchildren, Eli Brown, Ellie Fowle and Elijah Peel.
