He was predeceased by: his father Isaac Lee Oakes; his niece Victoria Schäfer Oakes; and his grandparents, Joseph, Maria Schäfer and Lillie Bronson Oakes Duncan.
He is survived by: his mother Helene Schäfer Oakes; his siblings, Kathy (Mike), Jerry L. Oakes, Bob Oakes (Vickie) and Michael Oakes; and his nieces and nephews, Michael Adam Cox, Brandon Poore (Adrian), Ben Isaac Oakes, Alison Cox Clapp (Patrick), Hannah Oakes Crutchfield (Caleb), Olivia Oakes Wilson (Bryston) and Nicole Oakes Cox (Christoph).
A procession was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Coffey Funeral Home (937 S Broad St, New Tazewell, TN 37825). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oakes Cemetery.
