He is survived by: his wife Janie Foster Bales; his son Gary Bales; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Bales; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew; his godson Aaron Parsons; his siblings, Grace Sharp, Opal Massingill and Don Bales; and his close friend Marvin Clifton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
