He was predeceased by: his wife Clara Jean Cate; his granddaughter Susanna Jean West; his parents, Rube Cate and Lou Cate; his brother Kyle Cate; and his niece Jenny Bullis.
He is survived by: his children, Ralph Cate (Melissa) and Glenda Holden (Alan); his grandchildren, Cole West, Dillon West (Ashley), Zach Cate and Rachel West; his sister Mildred Lindsey; and his sister-in-law Laura Payne.
