He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter James Settles, Sr. and Frances Aline Nichols Settles; his stepmother Mary Pauline Settles; and his brothers, Walter J. Settles, Jr and Charles E. Settles, Sr..
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his former wife Wilma Hudson; his children, Robert Hudson (Tamika), Terry Hudson, Derek Settles and Larry Brown; his grandchildren, Hailey, Cameron, Bryant, Avery, Sidney Lauryn, Brianna, Derek, Jr, Alexia, Johnathan, Gervonna and D'Ereka; his great grandchildren, Zion, Kevante, Breonta, Kato, Lamar, Charlianna, Breasia, Ja'Quan, Raelan and Tyrone; his siblings, Odessa L. Settles, Robert L. Settles (Helen), Ira Wayne Settles (Shirley), Calvin V. Settles (Sara) and Atley V; his half-brother Philip Settles; his uncle Roy D. Settles; and his friend Oak Valley Irregulars. He is also survived by nieces, 20 nephews, many great nieces, and great-nephews.
