He was predeceased by: his parents, James Everett Hunt Sr. and Allene Elizabeth Green; his daughter Deborah Russell (Artemus) of Antioch, Tennessee; his brothers, Robert Hunt and Roosevelt "Johnny" Hunt; and his siblings-in-law, Helen Waters, Dan Waters and Steven Waters.
He is survived by: his children, James Hunt III (Josella) of Delaware and Sonja Hunt-Gray (Tavia) of McKinney; his grandchildren, Desmond Hunt (Brittny), Everett Hunt (Ieisha), LaToya Hill (Art), Keosha Green and Chaquata Russell; his siblings, Jerry Wayne Hunt and Carla Denise; and his siblings-in-law, Nora Waters, Mattie Hendricks (Douglas), Sarah, Roberta Waters, Juanita Waters, Mayes Waters, Jr. (Grace) and David Waters (Lavonia). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
