He was predeceased by: his parents, Alpha Matthew Garth and Genevieve Ruth Hobson Garth; and his wife Ellen Garth. He is survived by: his son Robert "Rob" Martin Garth (Chandra) of Franklin; his sister Anita McGuire of Lanoka Harbor; his grandsons, Arness Holsey of Franklin, Tenn and Robert M. Garth of Jersey City; and also Luchianna "Lucy" Garth of Franklin.
