He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Downing and Loretta Cole Downing; his siblings, Bert Downing, Hugh Downing, Barbara Roelle (Homer) and Judy Johnston; and his brothers-in-law, Bernard Elliker and Dan Yochem.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Downing; his children, Jim Downing, Jr. (Laurie), Robert Downing (Amy), Dennis Deitz (Sharon) and Julie Weddington (Fred); his sisters, Colleen Elliker and Karen Yochem; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Downing, Mary Downing and Bill Johnston. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
