He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Joyce Dodson Erdel; his children, George T. "Ted" Erdel, III (Kelly), Karen Opferman (Michael) and Martin Erdel (Trinity); his sister Deborah Lou Ann Mayer; and his grandchildren, Sam Erdel, Grace Emmert (Tim), Thomas Erdel, Joey Opferman, Tim Opferman, Megan Opferman, Judah Erdel and Jonah Erdel.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Heartland Baptist Church (307 E Jefferson Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37130). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
