It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bessie Hampton (Murfreesboro, Tennessee), born in Shelbyville, Tennessee, who passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Sol Sims and Mary "Babe" Smith; her husband William Gregory "Greg" Hampton; and her brother Kenneth "Butchie Boy" Smith. She is survived by: her stepdaughter Cheri Hampton; her grandchildren, Alaysia Johnson and Demarcus Bailey; her siblings, Ricki Rippy (Jessie) of Wartrace, TN, Diana Buchanan (Wilkie), Deidre Smith and Joe Smith (Donna) of Shelbyville, TN; her aunt Theresa Burrage of Dayton, OH; her nieces, Kenya Smith, Ebone Smith and Chernita Smith; her great-nephews, Jordon and King Smith; her cousin Bonita Stewart; and her friend Jeanette Marable. She is also survived by nephews, relatives and friends.
