He was predeceased by: his wife Nora Kaat; his parents, Gilles Kaat and Helen Kaat (Poppe); and his daughters, Brenda Cropper (Tim) and Theresa Jewel.

He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Kaat, Jr., Patricia Cunningham (John, Sr.) and Helen Abercrombie; and his siblings, Margaret Kaat and Ronald Kaat (Sue). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; a host of great and great great grandchildren.
