Kathleen Evans Obituary
Kathleen Lewis Evans, 97, passed away on August 9, 2022. Born in Amory Mississippi to Cue and Tiny Lewis on June 9, 1925. Kathleen was the baby of the family, having 2 older sisters. She graduated from Tupelo High School in Tupelo, MS.
She was a homemaker who had a sweet, sweet spirit and had the gift of always making friends and family feel welcomed and loved. She enjoyed cooking and had many special dishes that she served to her family and friends. Everyone always counted on there being "Cricket corn" with her meals and looked forward to the "Pink Stuff" at every holiday meal. She was an excellent seamstress and made all her clothes as well as the clothes for her 2 daughters. She was multi-talented in that she loved to oil paint, especially landscape scenery. She was nicknamed Cricket by her two sisters when she was born and that name came back to her when the first of her grandchildren were born. Those grandchildren loved her dearly and could not wait to spend the best parts of their summers at her house. Kathleen, "Cricket", will be truly missed as she was definitely one of a kind and loved by so many.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Cue D and Tiny Lewis; her husband of 68 years, Sam P Evans, Jr; her sisters Eula Mae Williams and Beulah Gray Budratis; and her daughter, Nancy Sue Evans, with that loss, truly breaking her heart.
She is survived by her children Sam (Becky) Evans of Bartlett, TN, and Kathy (Whit) Whitten of Munford, TN, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 13 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Munford Funeral Home, Munford Chapel, Munford, TN. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 3:00 pm.
