He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Southern and Geraldine Southern (Turner); and his son Matthew Southern. He is survived by: his child Lt. Colonel Morgan Southern (Mercedes) of Williamsburg, VA.; his grandchildren, Emma Reed, Carson Reed, Grady Reed and Montserrat Southern; his brother Jerry Southern (Carrie); and his nieces, Stephanie Shockley, Kelly Drinnon and Rebecca Smith.
