He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Vanover Burgess; his children, Ingrid McComas and Dennis Burgess; his siblings, Ruth Goodwin Boling, Peggy Whitehead, Donald Burgess, James Burgess and Elbert Burgess; his grandson Robert Gentry; and his sons-in-law, Ronnie Gentry and Curtis Sluder.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Sluder, Karen Anderson (Terry), Monette Gentry and Brent Burgess (Donna); his daughter-in-law Kate Burgess; his grandchildren, Jesse Gentry, Leigh Ann Burnett, Meghan Hensley (Andrew), Deidre Dunn (Logan), Greta Helm (Eric) and Leslie Sharpe; his great grandchildren, James Gentry, William Gentry, Jada Gentry, Jordan Burgess, Katie Marshall, Aiden Dunn, Jasmine Helm, Catie Hill and Sam Swecker; his great great grandchildren, Magnolia Gentry and Robert Lane Gentry; and his close friends, Scotty Gentry, Naomi Hammons, Thelma Lipford, Gary Collins, Linda Moon, Alf and Barbara Wilson.
