He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar "Doc" Matheson and Elsie Irene Mast Matheson; his sons, Roy Stanley Matheson and Don William Matheson; and his siblings, D. W. Matheson and Mary Ruth Hernandez.
He is survived by: his wife Mae Matheson; his sisters, Wanda Shupe (Glenn) of Butler, TN, Camilla Osborne (Doug) and Kathy Torbett (Hill) of Mountain City, TN; his great-niece Jaycee; and his close friends, Danny Buchanan and George Lowe. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
