She was predeceased by: her father Charles O. Shupe; her former husband Ike Dancy; and her siblings, Aubrey Shupe, Kenneth Shupe Doran Shupe, Dwight Shupe, Flora Payne, Opal Nethercutt, Jean Stanley and Vivian Stewart.
She is survived by: her sister Shirley Ward of Winston Salem; her children, Karen Houtz of Darlington, Kirk L. Dancy of Reston, Virginia and Charles Michael Dancy of Rosedale, Maryland; her grandchildren, Amy Houtz-Martin (Chester), Kate Elie (Oswald), Blair Dancy (Abilene), Lindsay Albanese (William) and Alec Dancy (Jimena); and her caregiver Phyllis Lipford. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
