He is survived by: his son Joey Phipps of Creston, NC; his grandchildren, Levi Phipps, Sidney Phipps, Autumn Phipps and Grayson Phipps; and his brothers, Elmer Phipps (Mary) of Jefferson, NC, Randall Phipps of Lansing, Dewie Phipps (Kerri) of Morganton, NC and Jeff Phipps (Diane) of Purlear, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
