He was predeceased by: his parents, Giles M. Long and Mary Ann Garland Long; his wife Leona Dumic Long Blevins; his daughter Sherrie Dee Long; and his niece Elizabeth Brookshire.

He is survived by: his sisters, Jolene Long Litton (George) and Daisy Everett; his nephew Paul T. Everett; his sister Mary Glenn Long Hawkins; his nephew Jeffrey Brookshire; his daughter Lisa Hawkins; and his grandchildren, Robby Moody and Kaitlin Shephard.
