She was predeceased by: her parents, James Grooms and Josephine Grooms; her son Horace Allen "Nunior" Vandiver Jr.; and her brother William "Buddy" Grooms. She is survived by: her husband Allen Vandiver; her children, James Wayne "Buster" Vandiver (Janet) and Tammy Annette McPeak (Garry); her grandchildren, Jared Ayers (Diana Himes), Cameron McCanless (Christina), Trenton Vandiver (Jerry Wayne Bailey), Zachary McPeak (Kaitlin), Colton McPeak (Ashley) and Peyton Vandiver (Hannah Pangle); her sister Lisa "Sissy" Tate; her great-nephew Chase Cole; her sister-in-law Laticia Grooms; and her pet Rocky. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
