He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Soward and Georgie Soward; his brothers, Hugh Edward "Buddy" Soward and James Richard Soward (Joyce Soward); and his stepson Phillip Davidson.
He is survived by: his sister Becky Diane Jackson; his son Steve L. Soward, Sr.; his grandchildren, Steve Soward, Jr., Giovanna Reeves (David) and Tina Loftis (Devin); and his great grandchildren, Christina Loftis and Caleb Loftis.
