He was predeceased by: his parents, Conner Smith and Nannie Pearl Smith; and his brother Paul. He is survived by: his wife Deborah; his children, Ronda Bennett (Calvin), Bobby Smith, Jake Smith (Jessica) and Bradley Smith (Harley); and his siblings, Phyllis Courtney, Shirley Brown (Dan) and Doug Smith (Carolyn). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
