He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Vola Shields; his sister Dorothy Cooper; and his niece Sandy Stansberry. He is survived by: his wife Betty Shields; his sons, Robert Shields, Jr. and Darrell Shields (Tita); his grandson Robert III Shields (Pam); his nephew Johnny Cooper (Penny); and his close friends, Carol Fleemon and Sue Williams.
