He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanette Dotson; his parents, Judson Guy and Jessie Lou Dotson; and his siblings, Ellis Dotson, James Abner Dotson, Georgia Young and Helen Green.

He is survived by: his sons, Dennis Dotson and Raymond Dotson; his grandchildren, Amber Kincaid (John), Joshua Dotson, Justin Dotson and Jonathan Dotson; and his sister Linda Dotson.
