He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Sawyer and Peggy Sawyer; his brother David Sawyer; and his brother-in-law Russell Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Nichols Sawyer; his children, Matthew Elliott and Mallory Elizabeth; his brother Stephen Sawyer (Beverley); his parents-in-law, Ann and Harold Nichols; and his siblings-in-law, Amy Eanes and Joey Nichols (Stephanie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to All Saints' Episcopal School & All Saints' Episcopal Church.
