He was predeceased by: his father James Wayne Ely; his brother John Ely; and his grandparents, Gleaves "Man" Ely, Ruby Newman Ely, Aaron Johnson and Eliza Wilder Johnson.
He is survived by: his mother Juanita Johnson Ely; his siblings, Jeanice Pratt (Mike) and Joseph Ely (Federica); his nieces, Amy Ozment (Jamie) and Erin Smith (Elliott); and his great-niece Peyton Jayne.
