He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lingerfelt and Margaret Lingerfelt; his wife Peggy Kenley Lingerfelt; and his brothers, Paul Lingerfelt and Carroll Lingerfelt.
He is survived by: his daughter Laura Ritter (Greg); his grandson Cameron Ritter (Madelyn); his sister Rebecca Taulbee; his close friend Jean Taylor; and also Dr. Kenneth Allum. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or to the Peggy Lingerfelt Music Scholarship Fund through the Walters State Community College Foundation.
