He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Marsh Smith; his parents, William Smith (Bill) and Ruby Byrum Smith; his children, Lisa Kay and Gordon Scott; his great-niece Lindsey Trusler; and his great-nephew Scott Shockley.
He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly Nichols (Alan) of Clinton, TN; his granddaughters, Channing Murphy and Chelsea Murphy of Knoxville, TN; his niece Debbie McGoldrick (Dan) of Ormond Beach, FL; his great-nephew Powell Trusler III (Hero) of Weeki Wachee, FL; his nephew Steve Shockley (Terriann) of Atlanta, GA; and his great-niece Stacy Cianciola (Parker) of Atlanta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research. Checks may be payable to Michael J. Fox Foundation.
