He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Spoon Johnson; his parents, William Knipp and Elizabeth Bell Johnson; and his sisters, Mary Fee and Lena Smith.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Karen Rowland MeWhinney; his stepgrandson John Allen Paxton; his siblings, Billy Johnson, Troy Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Beulah Carr, Sandra McFall and Elizabeth Holt; his close friend Bill Greene; and his caregiver Judy Maltba. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
