He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Carlisle Carmichael and Georgia Carmichael; his wife Shirley Drake Carmichael; his brother Daniel Carlisle Carmichael; and his sister-in-law Barbara Carmichael.
He is survived by: his children, Tasha Carmichael Kimbrough (Darren) and Joseph Erik Carmichael (Tonya); his grandchildren, Zachary Erik Carmichael (Jessica) and Koleton Kimbrough; and his great grandchildren, Olivia and Randall Carmichael.
