He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Howard and Katherine Elizabeth James; his brothers, Jerry James and Charles Freddie James; and his son-in-law Timothy Maples.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce James; and his children, Kathleen Maples, Jesse Lee James (Nerissa) and Bobby Lee James, Jr. (Thena Fisher-James). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
