He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Dalton and Thema Mae Dennis Burks; his brother Wendell Gordon Burks; and his uncle Coy Dennis. He is survived by: his wife Peggye Jo Lance Burks; his children, Cameron Heath Burks (Michele) and Andrena Carter (James); his sisters, Shirley Franklin (Ken) and Vicki King (Hubert); and his grandchildren, Alexandria Carter, Caden Carter, Cethley Burks, Sydney McComis (Steve) and Alex Pullon. He is also survived by one great grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
