He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cordell Poteet and Lottie Hicks Poteet; his brothers, Robert, Charles, John and Jim Poteet; and his half-brother Eugene Ball.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Irene Ballew Poteet; his children, Don Poteet (Julie), Michael Poteet (Christina), Randall Poteet, Gregory Poteet (Beth), Denise Smith and Linda Irene Hill (David); and his brother Donald Richard Poteet. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
