He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Carolyn Hawthorne; his parents, JB Hawthorne and Millie Hawthorne; his son Josh Hawthorne; and his siblings, Rushia Henson, Melvin Hawthorne, Oscar Hawthorne, Johnie Hawthorne and Nate Hawthorne.
He is survived by: his children, Toi Haley (George) of Jacksonville, IL, Karita Tilford (Mark) of Louisville, KY, Willetta Hawthorne of Nashville, TN, Mary Morris (Rodney) of Princeton, IN and Willie J. Hawthorne, Jr. of Milan, TN; his siblings, Emma Jean Hawthorne of Mt. Vernon, IL, Pauline Hunter of Avondale, AZ and Abe Hawthorne (Jeanne) of Phoenix, AZ; and his friend Roger Irvin (Becky) of Bartlett, TN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
