He is survived by: his wife Robbie Watkins; his son Joe David Watkins II (Lisa); his grandchildren, Davey Virginia, Cameron Bryant and James D. Watkins (Keelie); his great grandchildren, Lucy Kaye and Sadie James; and his siblings, Hazel Taylor (Edward), Nelle Burgess (Ross), Ava Pulliam (Harlan), John Ed Watkins (Donna), Leon Watkins (Shirley Dale), Ray Watkins, Jerry Watkins (Karen), Jimmy Lynn Watkins (Shelia) and Timmy Watkins (Andrea).
