He was predeceased by: his parents, Aulton B. Brooks and Evangeline Burress Brooks; his wife Jo Ann Coffman; his grandparents, John Thomas, Mary Eula Greer Brooks, James Franklin Burress, Sr. and Nancy Allene Maxedon Burress; his siblings-in-law, Dorothy Kiddy, Mary Sue Parsons, Mildred Meeks, June Thompson, Kenneth Kiddy, William Howard "Hoss" Parsons and Deward Meeks; and his nieces, Martha Carol Carpenter, Betty Sue Gray and Wanda Gail Thornhill.
He is survived by: his sister Doris Brooks Oswalt (Earl Oswalt) of Southaven, Mississippi; his nephews, Vincent Oswalt (Tosca) of Southaven, Randy Carpenter of Collierville and Christopher Oswalt (Beth) of Henrico, Virginia; his sisters-in-law, Beauton Young of Peoria, Virginia Coffman of Adamsville and Carolyn McMeans (Danny); his nieces and nephews, Darren, Tracy McMeans and James Kiddy of Arkansas; his brother-in-law Travis Thompson of Corinth, Mississippi; his great-niece Jacey Creswell; his nieces and nephews, Linda Kiddy Eldridge, Anne Meeks Wood, Tony Meeks, Janet Meeks Sagely, Danny Meeks and Tina Michelle Dunn; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kelsey Winchell, Brayden Carpenter, Jack Oswalt and Charlotte Oswalt; and also, Kiran McMeans, Brooks Winchell and Beckham Winchell.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Center Hill Baptist Church (4380 Damon Rd, Michie, TN 38326). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at the Lebanon Cemetery (300 Chambers Store Rd, Michie, TN 38357).
