We are sad to announce that on March 23, 2021, at the age of 83, Vala Garrett Cartwright in Memphis, Tennessee passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James Finis Cartwright; her brother Billy Gene Garrett; and her sisters-in-law, Donna Irvin Garrett and Mary Irene Blocker (Billy). She is survived by: her children, Trina Cartwright Peery (Patrick Alan Peery) and James Russell Cartwright (Sherry Denise Herring); her foster son Daryl Lex Christian (Gisella Christian); her grandchildren, James Douglas Peery (Hailey Hunt Peery), Gordon Russell Cartwright, Garrett Catherine-Marie Peery, Corey Heath Cartwright (Jessie Pyland Cartwright), Alana Peery and Reese Edward Cartwright; her niece Nikki Deanne Blocker (Ashley); and also, Justin Martin Blocker (Joanie) and Eric Dennis.
Family request face covering be worn and mindfulness of social distancing be practiced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
