He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Joseph Nenon and Patricia Wrape Nenon. He is survived by: his wife Dr. Monika Nenon (Memphis); his daughter Dr. Christina McClam; his son-in-law John McClam; his grandchildren, Henry, Sophia and Claire of Philadelphia, PA; and his siblings, Patricia, Edward, Carroll Nenon (Memphis), Judy (John Girardeau), David (Karen Nenon), Philip Nenon and Chris Nenon. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Canale Funeral Directors (2700 Union Ave Extended, Memphis, TN 38112). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception (1695 Central Ave, Memphis, TN 38104). A burial was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Memorial Park Cemetery (5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38120). Tom became Provost in 2019, successfully steering the university to Carnegie R1 research status and navigating the unprecedented pandemic from 2020-2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Peer Power Foundation in his honor.
