It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jeanne Buckner Payne of Memphis, Tennessee, who passed away on February 13, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles A. Buckner and Dorothy D. Buckner; her sister Sandy Phillips (Roger); and her pets, Chou-Chou, Pepsi, Fergus, McGregor, Strudel and Lady GoGo.

She is survived by: her husband George R. Payne, Jr.; her son Scott L Kirkpatrick, IV (Katie); her sister Bonnie Phifer (Tony); her niece Alexandra Quinn (Artie); her grandchildren, Josh, Katelyn, Lauren and Mitchell; and also, Charles W. Buckner, Andrew Phifer, Ben Phifer, Asher, Ellis, Griffin, Hayden, Reese, Owen, Emmett, Paige and Levi.

Memorial donations may be made to the Memphis Humane Society.
