She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence McSpadden and Carolyn McSpadden; and her brother Larry McSpadden of Gastonia. She is survived by: her children, Sidney Genette (Jayne), Jane Slatery (Charles), Lucy McDougall (Mac) and Madeline Genette; her grandchildren, Julian Genette, Lawrence Genette, Amy Brown, Beth Lawrence, Kyle Slatery, Wil Slatery and Jack Slatery; her stepdaughters, Jenny Twist Smith (Graham) and Nancy Twist Sienknecht; her stepgranddaughters, Madeline Lanigan and Jillian Smith; her nephew Randy Smith; her great-nephews, Will and Jack; her nieces and nephews, Malcolm, Laura, Doug and Marion; and her caregivers, Tomeika Levy, Tonya Jenkins, Erika Levy, Leona Hayes, Debra Walls and Dee Thomas. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Episcopal Church (102 N 2nd St, Memphis, TN 38103). A reception was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
