He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stafford and Esther Stafford; his wife Weda Stafford; his sisters, Johnnie Ruth Lanier (Earl) and Mary Ellen Holloway (Glen); and his granddaughter Kary Cook (Irma Merrill Stafford).
He is survived by: his children, James W. Stafford, Jr. (Sandra) and Karen Stafford Cook (Gary); his grandchildren, Jes Stafford (Annmarie), Marie Stafford Woo (Ying) and Kristen Cook Stone (Matthew); his great grandchildren, Gabe Stone and Shea Stone; his stepdaughters, Irma "Missy" W. Merrill and Pauline Merrill Foster (Chris); his children, Julia and Christopher Foster; his stepson Erich II (Laura); his sons, Erich III and Alex; and his close friend Carlie Ann Davis.
