He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thigpun and Mary Thigpun; his wife Peggy Thigpun; his siblings, David Thigpun and Carolyn Thomas; and his grandson Cody Thigpun.

He is survived by: his children, James William Thigpun, Jr. (Michelle), Kristi Calderon (Alex) and Jennifer Maino; his grandchildren, Brett Thigpun, Zachary Calderon (Taylor), Kaci Calderon, Cayson Maino, Griffin Maino, Karis Maino, Mylan Maino and Addison Maino; and his great grandchild Natalie Rae Caroline Calderon.
