He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph W. Scott and Irma Smith Scott; his brothers, Joseph M. Scott of Memphis and Gene W. Scott of Williamsburg, KY; and his spouse Mary Blanche McMullen. He was also cherished by three sons, the Rev. Stephen W. Scott (wife Laurie), of Clemmons, NC; Jeffrey M. Scott (Allison Tanner), of Kansas City, MO; Edwin L. Scott Jr. (Mimi Torrington), of Austin, TX; five grandsons; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
