He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest and Maxine. He is survived by: his brother Phillip; his wife Susan; his children, Emily and Haiz; the father of his children Hunter; his daughter-in-law Maggie (Haiz); and his grandson Henry.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Grace St. Lukes' Episcopal Church (1720 Peabody Ave, Memphis, TN 38104). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Later, when Binswanger Glass of Memphis secured the contract to inscribe the names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., they used Dan's process to etch more than 57, 000 names—a contribution to American civic life of which he was immensely proud.
