He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvel Emmett and Freda Brown Mason; his wife Martha Sue Thompson Mason; his son Arvel Dwight "Dee" Mason, II; and his siblings, Kenneth Ray Mason, James Earl Mason, Christine "Pete" Jones, Joy Lou Mason and Glenda Paulette Mason.
He is survived by: his significant other Theresa Buckley; his daughter Sheila Ann Huntley of Memphis; and his siblings, Larry Mason of Lepanto, Barbara Willis of Lexington, Susan "Cookie" Burke of Osceola and Kay Jennings (Mike) of Lepanto. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
