He was predeceased by: his parents, L. J. Taylor and Mattie Aliene Hodge Taylor; his grandson Brandon Taylor; his son-in-law Nathan Slaughter; and his brother Frank Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Taylor of Medon; his daughters, Debbie King (Richard) of Medon and Brenda Slaughter of Jackson; his grandchildren, Jessica Phillips (Nathan), Daniel King (Michelle) and Celeste Slaughter; and his great grandchildren, Abbie, Rylee, Joslyn, Jacob, Olivia, Charlie Ann, Hazel and Christopher.

Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to New Union Baptist Church.
